What are 8 Easy Touch-ups for a Show Ready Home?

Getting your home ready to put on the market can be a job in itself.  But nothing gives a better impression than a fresh coat of paint.  Before you place your home on the market consider completing these touch-ups.

  1. 1.     If you want a prospective buyer to consider your home, make sure your front door has a fresh coat of paint to avoid seeing any nicks or touch up the paint at the very least.
  2. 2.     Buyers will get the initial glimpse into your home by seeing your entrance hall first. Make sure you touch up areas there the paint shows marks and chips.
  3. 3.     Bathrooms can often receive extra scrutiny, give them extra attention.  Touch up or repaint as needed.
  4. 4.     When it comes to your kitchen, size does matter.  Make your kitchen look bigger by painting the walls white or off white.  If you cannot repaint, remove food stains from walls, and touch up paint.
  5. 5.     Touch up any wood work that is chipped or marred.
  6. 6.     Inspect all areas that come in contact with soiled hands such as wood frames, door frames, edge of doors, and walls around light switched.  You may be able to clean the area but if you cannot, touch them up with paint.
  7. 7.     Scrub cabinet doors clean of fingerprint or touch them up with paint.
  8. 8.     Be sure to touch up any water stains on your ceiling as those can be a deal breaker for potential buyers.

What Deck Style is Right for You and Your Home?

Spring is here and summer is right around the corner which means time outside will become more and more.  Having a great outdoor space can add value to your home and create a new space for your family to enjoy but what type of deck is right for you?

  • ·      Attached- This is the most common deck style and is usually built in the back of the house where it can be raised or level with your yard.  It can also give you an easy in-and-out access to your home.

  • ·      Island- This free-standing deck can be installed away from the house and out of the yard.  The island can be decorated with clusters of trees or allow you to relax by a pond or flower garden.

  • ·      Floating- A floating deck is built on a platform above the ground with the foundation and structure hidden underneath.  It is low to the ground and can work on uneven or rocky terrain.

  • ·      Wraparound- A wraparound deck covers more than two sides of your home and allows you to take advantage of multiple views.

  • ·      Multi-level- These decks are perfect for yards with steep slopes, uneven terrain or for homes with two or more stories.  They are usually connected by a series of stairs or pathways and can create several spots for entertaining.

  • ·      Around a Tree- Consider building a deck around a tree to add style to your yard.  This type of deck is similar to an island deck in that it’s not attached to your home.
